The Farmers Compensation Programme was launched in 2023 by the Agriculture Department, Government of Manipur, to support farmers affected by law and order disruptions.

Compensation rates were set at 100% for farmers cultivating their own land, 80% for tenant farmers, and 20% for non-cultivating landowners. In Phase I, ₹1,890.334 lakh was distributed to 3,483 farmers, while in Phase II, ₹1,330.043 lakh was provided to 2,071 farmers.

Initially, the application process was manual and time-consuming. To streamline this, an online web application was introduced in Phase III in 2024, enabling farmers to apply digitally via https://farmercompensation.in. The platform, built on Service Plus (NIC) and integrated with MeriPehchaan (C-DAC) for Aadhaar-based authentication, allows farmers to:

  • Apply using their Aadhaar-linked phone number
  • Fill in details and upload photos of affected areas
  • Submit geo-tagged .kmz files
  • Receive SMS alerts on application status

Since its launch, the platform has received 13,727 applications.
